South African children often have very good immunity, because, as soon as they learn to walk, they run barefoot everywhere (from the grass near the house to the cold tiled floor of the mall) and in any weather.
Children here are perceived as ordinary members of society, they are not overly patronized or put the interests of the child above all else. Relatives play a very important role in the upbringing of children, who can unceremoniously interfere in family affairs. Nobody demands the impossible from children: they spend their days playing and studying.
By the way, about education: here the expenses associated with children's education make up, perhaps, the largest part of all family expenses. Public schools and kindergartens are paid, private ones are also paid, but even more expensive. And not all poor families understand the importance of education, their children tend to start “earning” money as early as possible. Often they can be found begging on the roads during school hours.
